169 heavy trucks from Changzhou head straight to Saudi Arabia
Recently, at the production base of BAIC Heavy Duty Truck Co., Ltd. in Luoxi Town, Changzhou High-tech Zone, brand-new heavy trucks rolled out of the factory area one after another, bound for the port. This month, this batch of logistics "behemoths" will be shipped to Saudi Arabia.
"The total value of this order exceeds 70 million yuan, the largest overseas order in the company's history, firing a resounding shot for our overseas business expansion this year," introduced Hu Shaofeng, General Manager of the Overseas Marketing Company and Deputy Director of the Technology Center of BAIC Heavy Duty Truck Co., Ltd.
The X9-520 fuel heavy truck being shipped this time is a new product launched by the company last year. In response to the high-temperature, heavy-load, and high-salt-fog operating conditions in the Gulf region, the company carried out targeted optimization of the vehicle's cooling and thermal management, cab heat insulation, air conditioning system, and chassis anti-corrosion; it is equipped with a dual-cylinder air compressor to ensure braking safety under mountainous conditions; and the cab adopts a multi-layer partition design to reduce air conditioning energy consumption.
"Many OEMs 'sell whatever vehicles they have,' but our approach is to provide whatever vehicles the customer needs. " Hu Shaofeng said that the company adheres to high quality and low cost, with a development cycle 1.5 times longer than the industry norm, and its quality development process benchmarks against international mainstream systems. "We would rather go a little slower than compromise on vehicle quality. "
Saudi Arabia is the largest single market in the Middle East, with annual market demand of about 30,000 heavy trucks. Hu Shaofeng introduced that this batch of vehicles put into cross-border logistics will circulate to neighboring countries such as the UAE, Oman, and Qatar. Opening up the Saudi market can radiate across the entire Middle East region, and this order is crucial for the company to take root in the Middle East.
It is reported that BAIC Heavy Duty Truck was established in 2023 and launched its overseas layout in 2024. In recent years, the company has persisted in developing both fuel and electric vehicles and making efforts on multiple fronts. The "i Dream Chasing" hybrid heavy truck and the Blue Dream new energy family together form a "oil-gas-electric-hybrid" product matrix; the "Blue Dream 7" pure electric heavy truck has completed contract signing and delivery; and in August this year, the pure electric heavy truck "Dream Chasing EV" was launched in Changzhou and immediately won 800 orders. New energy products are accelerating toward large-scale implementation, advancing in tandem with traditional fuel heavy trucks.
